MIKE MYERS "I just like to do the stuff when it’s fun," says a surprisingly low-key Mike Myers, alter-ego to the ever affable and supremely shagadelic secret agent Austin Powers. "I’m not very smart when it comes to career. I just don’t think that way." It’s a non-thought process that has worked extremely well for the Toronto-bred comedian, who wrote an essay about "Saturday Night Live" creator Lorne Michaels while still a schoolboy. After landing a gig with Michaels as an adult, Myers successfully segued into movies with his beloved "SNL" outgrowth Wayne’s World; other comedic roles followed and the artist even proved his penchant for the dramatic with a cinematic turn as Studio 54 co-founder Steve Rubell. But it’s his dual role as sex-starved Powers and his be-scarred nemesis Dr. Evil that has turned out to be the best career move Myers never foresaw. "My plan is not having a plan," the writer/actor insists. "The only thing you can do is what your heart wants to do." And since the experience of shooting Austin Powers was so "awesome," he was eager to reteam with director Jay Roach and the original crew to shoot its followup, The Spy Who Shagged Me. The clips you see here are taken from an interview with Myers in Hollywood; LAUNCH managing editor Deborah Russell also caught up with Powers, himself, on location for a few choice words of wisdom.
